How to delete interntet explorer

Nearly all PCs come with Internet Explorer preloaded but that doesn't mean you have to use it for browsing the web. You could download Firefox or Google Chrome, both of which have functions that IE doesn't. IF you do that though, you may want to remove IE from your hard drive. Read on and we'll tell you how to delete Interntet Explorer.

Deleting a program

You can remove a program from your hard drive at any time without too much fuss and with the minimum of computer know how. Doing this will free up some space for new programs and could make your PC run a little better. To uninstall a program go into Programs and Features from the start menu of your PC. It's under Control Panel and then Programs. Just select the program you want to get rid of and then click Uninstall.

How to delete Interntet Explorer

Unlike other programs on your computer, you can't uninstall or delete Internet Explorer. Instead you can turn it off. You'll need to be in IE to deactivate it, so open the program. Your next step is to swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. When the search field appears type Windows features in, then tap Settings. After that, click the Turn Windows features to off.

Default browser

You also have the option of leaving IE as it is but making sure that it's not your default browser. To do this all you have to do is go through the Start Menu to Control Panel. Next click Add or Remove Programs then select Set program access and defaults. Your next step is to click the Custom button, after which you'll need to scroll through the list until you come across Default web browsing. Uncheck the Enable this program box on the next screen, select the browser you'd like to use and then save.

Final word

As it's a Microsoft product, you can't remove it from your PC. That's a shame because it could save you valuable space. Although we haven't been able to show you how to delete interntet explorer, you can now manipulate it so that it's no longer your default browser or you can deactivate it.
