Holy rip off, Batman!

Batman Arkham Asylum was one of the best games of 2009, which in itself was a vintage year for gaming. It grabbed comic book fanboys and casual gamers right by the knackers with its dark, brooding Dark Knight, smooth difficulty gradient and absorbing gameplay. As soon as you’ve swooped from the sky to bash up some chump once you’re hooked. To celebrate their success Square Enix have revealed that they’re releasing a Game Of The Year edition on 26 March, complete with new stuff just to infuriate those who pre-ordered the game.

So what is new, and is it worth splashing out for if you’ve already got it? Well, there will be a 3D option through TriOviz 3D support, which will be compatible with standard and HD tellies (thanks to the ever ridiculous 3D glasses, which will come with the game), and on top of that some new challenge maps, in which players ‘face-off against Arkham Asylum's toughest inmates in some of the iconic environs from the game such as the infamous Crime Alley and the insane Scarecrow Nightmare.’ Sounds nifty, no?

‘By leveraging the depth-of-field while maintaining the original gameplay and colour integrity, TriOviz 3D creates a far more immersive gaming experience, allowing console players to dive deeper into the gothic world of Arkham Asylum,’ claimed the developer. It sounds like a attempt to get people with more money than sense to buy the game again, if you ask us, but if you didn’t get your hands on it the first time round then it could be well worth a punt.
