Hell freezes over

Some sequels seem to take an age to appear. The Stone Roses' Second Coming took five years; the Stereo MC's second album took seven. But no wait has seemed more interminable than the painfully slow gestation of Firefox 4.

You're probably already running Firefox 4 on your computer; that's because it's had a whopping NINE beta versions available for public download over the last year-and-a-bit. And it's still not, technically, finished; but the new version is a 'release candidate', which means pending some horrible bug it's basically what Mozilla are planning to properly release in a couple of weeks.

For those of you who are still rocking Firefox 3 - or using another browser altogether - here's a recap of the main features. It's lovely and fast; it has a lovely 'tab candy' feature to help manage lots of tabs at once; and it has built-in syncing of bookmarks and passwords. So why not head to Mozilla.com and grab the new version to take it for a spin?
