GT5 due for pre-Christmas release

The release of Gran Turismo 5 has been one of the most baffling things in the gaming world for quite a long time now. It’s been a full five years since the last edition of the series was released on the PlayStation 2, and fans are champing at the bit to get their fix of racing action.

We had been told that the game would be ready for a release before Christmas, but that was recently thrown into doubt when series creator Kazunori Yamauchi said that the team was still ‘working on a few things’. Fans were half expecting the game to be pushed back yet again past Chrimbo, but SCEA's senior VP of marketing Peter Dille has more or less confirmed that you will be driving cars which appear to never be damaged, regardless of the collisions you make with them, by the time Santa squeezes down your chimney.

‘Yeah (it's on track for scheduled release date), Kazunori came out with a comment that they are working on a few last things,' he said. 'He apologized to the community, but explained it is coming before Christmas. We haven't put a date to that yet, but we will just as soon as we get word from him when he's done.’
