Google was voted the UK's top brand in a new survey published today by YouGov. The internet search engine moved up two places from last year to knock Microsoft off the top spot.
Founded twelve years ago by two students, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Google has grown to become one of the most recognisable brands in the world thanks to its search engine and the purchase of YouTube back in 2006.
According to statistics from internet monitor Hitwise, Google enjoys approximately 73% of the UK search engine market with closest rival Yahoo lagging far behind. Microsoft is still streets ahead of rival Apple despite slipping off the top spot in the "superbrands" poll.
