Google to cut porn results in China

Google has promised to remove pornography from the the Chinese version of its web portal, Google.cn, after coming under fire from the People's Republic's internet watchdog.

The Chinese authorities have accused the internet search giant of "disseminating pornographic and vulgar information" and is reported to have issued two warnings about the listing of porn sites in search results.

Google released an official statement regarding the matter: "We are undertaking a thorough review of our service and taking all necessary steps to fix any problems with our results." But China's Internet Illegal Information Reporting Centre could be set to take further action.

China's internet watchdog claims to have blocked over 1000 websites containing pornographic material. So it looks as if there'll be no whacking off in the PRC over the next few months.
