The sky is falling down! The sky is falling down! Google users were faced with hours without Gmail, YouTube and the company's world famous search engine after the internet giant rerouted traffic through Asia causing a traffic jam.
The internet giant explained the epic fail on their blog in terms that make Eric Cantona's famous seagulls and trawler speech seem direct: "Imagine if you were trying to fly from New York to San Francisco, but your plane was routed through an airport in Asia. And a bunch of other planes were sent that way too, so your flight was backed up and your journey took much longer than expected. That’s basically what happened to some of our users today for about an hour, starting at 7:48 am Pacific time."
Google apologized for the outage but they could have at least spared us their kooky and cringe worthy explanation.
