Google has launched an open source web browser today which it hopes will compete with market leaders Internet Explorer and Firefox. Google Chrome is reported to be faster and more stable than its competitors as it has been designed specifically for web apps that use graphics and multimedia.
The new browser is also being marketed as a more secure option with a clean and easy to use interface which the first screenshots seem to confirm. A beta version of Google Chrome for Windows is available to download here with Mac and Linux versions set to follow soon.
More information is available from Google Chrome Comic Book here. Does the world need another web browser? Who knows, but it will be interesting to see if Google can compete with Internet Explorer's 80% share of the market.
