Going, going, gone

You can sell all the high-end Macs and iPads you want, but the truth is, people love a bargain. And it looks like budget manufacturer Advent is on to a winner with their £250 Vega Android tablet. The bargain-basement beast packs a powerful NVidia Tegra 2 processor and a full-size 10.1-inch screen, making it seem a bargain against the starting price of £429 for an iPad.

So perhaps it's not totally surprising that, just hours after it went on sale in PC World stores yesterday morning, the device sold out. But, as Engadget pointed out, that doesn't necessary mean PC World sold lots; we don't know how many they put on sale in the first place.

All we know for certain is, if you want to get yourself some budget Android tablet action, you'll have to wait a couple of weeks. (Let's hope the Advent works out better than the Toshiba Folio 100, which PC World stopped selling after customers kept returning it). Be aware, though: the Vega doesn't have Android Market, so some of your favourite apps might not be available.
