So the results are out and the analysis of this years' exam results commences. Particularly interesting this year is the achievements of girls in the technology subjects. Although the number of girls taking A Level tech subjects is vastly lower than that of their male peers, those who do choose the subject are outdoing the boys by far.
According to the stats, 12.9% of girls scored an A in ICT, compared with 7.5% of boys. Similarly 17.7% of girls got the top grade in computing, against 15.4 percent of boys.
Some other interesting stats revealed on ZDNet were the numbers taking the exam. This year, 575 girls, compared with 5,035 boys, took the computing A Level. In ICT the ratio was 4,986 girls to 8,374 boys.
Well done the girls!
