Tablets, phones, Smart TVs - why isn't CES about hardcore computing any more? This would be a legitimate question for gamers to ask. The focus on consumer-friendly portable devices in recent years has been interesting, but sometimes we just want to see a high-spec PC, you know what we mean?
Well, Acer is eager to oblige. The Aspire Predator AG3600 isn't a top-of-the-range rig: its $899 asking price makes it practically low-cost by gaming standards. But it's powerful, and blessed with a pretty snazzy Tron-like appearance.
So what does nine one-ers get you? A 2G Intel Core i5 2300 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 1.5TB - that's terabytes, folks! - hard drive. And the all-important graphics? NVIDIA GeForce GT 420, a well-regarded card if ever there was one.
Oh, and ten (!) USB ports, for all your crazy gaming peripherals.
There, see? Now gamers too have something new to lust after.
