Ford set to take on boy racers with MyKey technology
The BBC reports that Ford are set to take on teenage boy racers with new parental controls which will limit what other drivers can do with Ford cars.
The MyKey system controls the vehicle’s top speed, the loudness of the stereo and has an alarm if seatbelts are not being worn. The service is due to be introduced in 2009 and 2010 in the Ford Focus and in other Ford models in 2011.
MyKey technology is based on the same ID chips which Ford have used in their keys to prevent car theft. It remains to be seen if it will have any impact on road accidents.
