Facebook users approve changes to terms and conditions

Facebook users have voted unanimously to retain control over user data. Over 75% of those that took part in the week long vote chose to back the popular social networking site’s Principles and Statement of Rights and Responsibilities.

The vote came about after Facebook changed its terms of use back in February leading to a mini-revolt online. Following the wave of complaint Mark Zuckerberg & Co. decided to put a set of new conditions to the popular vote.

In theory, users now have the right to ask Facebook to remove data if they choose to stop using the site. With only 600,000 of the estimated 20 million users taking part it seems that data control was not such an important issue for the majority of users.
