Facebook suffers security scare

Facebook has suffered five attacks on its security over the last week after being targeted by online hackers looking to steal personal valuable data from users.

Internet security company Trend Micro claims that cyber-criminals are creating fake accounts on the popular social networking site and spreading malware in an attempt to access private data contained in user profiles. Just last month Facebook users were hit by the Koobface virus.

Trend Micro has called on Facebook to review its policy of approving applications for the popular site a call which was rejected last month by Mark Zuckerberg back in February: "Our philosophy is that having an open system anyone can participate in is generally better."
