If you think Facebook is everywhere you may just have too narrow a view of the world, according to an analyst at Jupiter Research. Commenting on traffic figures from Hitwise that showed the social networking site’s market share increasing 30-fold in the last 12 months, Nate Elliot criticised the site’s “exclusive focus to date on English-speaking markets”.
Although it’s probably the UK’s most successful social networking site, and does well in its home country of the USA, Facebook has just 10 per cent of the European market. So will the French start constantly poussant one another? Will Germany be swept by a craze for anwerfening sheep all over the place on GesichtBuch?
Or is it just the English who like having lots of friends without actually having to meet or talk to them?
