Facebook is no longer the world's second most popular social networking site. According to figures released by Comscore, in April 2008, Facebook got onto level terms with its rival MySpace in terms of unique monthly users.
As TechCrunch points the majority of Facebook's growth in 2008 has been in the international market with MySpace still dominating the US market with 72m monthly users stateside alone. But Facebook's user figures in the US have risen from 23m to 36m in the space of a year.
Primarily it's the global market which has been Facebook's strength over the last year. The social networking site has grown by over 75m unique users, but only 13m of these were in the United States. TechCrunch questions the value of Facebook's international users in terms of potential advertising revenue.
