Perhaps making illegal copies of software really is piracy after all. Scottish Trading Standards officers have fined a man £3000 for selling illegal copies of PlayStation 2 and PSP games to trawlermen – in exchange for a box of fresh crabs.
George Clarke sold the games to the fishermen in February 2006 on their return to Troon harbour, and accepted the fishy bargain when they told him they had no cash on them (the scorbutic dogs!). We’re choosing to see this as a welcome revival of oppressed pirate culture that started with International Talk Like a Pirate Day, with Trading Standards taking the unlikely role of the Royal Navy. Avast, there, me hearties!
