Can you actually be addicted to your mobile phone? The answer seems to be yes with the news in today's Guardian that two Spanish children are being treated for mobile phone addiction in a mental health clinic.
According to the report the children, aged 12 and 13, were spending up to six hours per day on their mobiles texting, talking and playing games. As a result they suffered problems at school and had become antisocial and withdrawn.
One leading addiction expert, Dr José Martìnez-Raga, claims that mobile phone addicts will resort to lying and stealing to pay for their habit. A study in Spain has found that 65% of Spanish children between 10-15 have a mobile phone and 30% of children between 11-17 feel oppressed without their phones.
