We look for the cheapest broadband dongles

What good is that brand new netbook you just bought if you can only use it to connect to the internet whenever you manage to find a free WiFi connection? And even then, your browsing experience will be crippled by painfully slow loading times, page errors and all sorts of security issues. It really makes you wonder why you bother.

Well, there's a solution out there and it's actually cheaper than you might think! For a small fee and negligible monthly charge, you can get yourself online using one of the various broadband dongles available from some of the UK's biggest network providers.

You can kiss goodbye to your poor out of home browsing experiences and instead embrace the true pleasure of communications on the move, wherever you are! To help you decide which one is right for you, we've set out to try to find the cheapest dongle for broadband in the UK.

There is quite a choice available to prospective buyers these days, with the likes of Vodafone, Three, Orange, O2 and T-Mobile all having great devices and plans available at great prices. The best thing about these offers is that they're now available with pay as you go plans, so you won't need to commit money you don't have for a service you might only occasionally use!

The best value package we've found is Orange's Racoon service. The dongle costs £14.99 as a once off payment, and you're not tied into a monthly contract. £5 gets you 500MB of bandwidth to use while you're on the go. Now, this probably won't be sufficient for those of you who like to view movies or download large files from the net, since a single streaming movie is likely to exceed the bandwidth allowance,  but for anyone who just wants to stay in touch with friends and family while commuting, it certainly represents a great offer.

It's got a speed of up to 7.2Mbps, which puts many home broadband services to shame, and is available now to all Orange customers by calling 0800 072 4137.
