Borders makes moves in mobile publishing

WebTwitcher's favourite coffee break stop over, Borders bookshop, is going mobile.

Not in the mobile library van kind of way, oh no. The innovative bookseller is partnering with some of the world's top publishers including Penguin, Random House, HarperCollins and Bloomsbury in an interesting move to publish the first chapters of new books via mobile devices.

Part of a promotional strategy, the downloaded chapters will come complete with a voucher that entitles you to 20% of the real thing if you enjoy what you've read.

The news follows a recent announcement at HarperCollins that it will be turning its attentions more towards mobile, following the launch of a new multi-contributor blog, Fifthestate.

Interesting mobile moves from the top publishers, who seem to be taking a lead in innovating for the mobile market.
