Tell us honestly: do you ever Google yourself? You do, right? You totally do. Not constantly, but every now and then. There's nothing wrong with it. Some people even use Google's Alert service to tell them whenever their name appears online.

Sounds a bit much, but nobody is as good as Google at convincing us we need new sources of data in our lives. So Google are taking the 'vanity alert' and making it their own. Their new feature, 'Me on the Web', can email you when anyone adds your name, email address, or other personal data to a public web site.

We reckon this could provoke a few false positives if your name is John Smith, but in general, this seems pretty handy. But then, we would think that: we're vain buggers.
