Australian court sends legal papers via Facebook
An Australian court has sent legal papers via Facebook to a truant couple after attempts to contact the pair in person, by phone and via email all proved unsuccessful.
Following a number of no shows in court, the prosecution tracked the pair down via the popular social networking site and then asked the case judge if they could issue legal documents online. The duo owe over AU$100,000 and look set to lose their Canberra home.
Facebook is fast becoming a sure-fire way to track down people who try to pull a swift one. Only last month a Melbourne restaurant traced a number of customers who did a runner without paying the bill.
