According to online retailers Play.com Assassin’s Creed 2: Episodes (which in reality is essentially Assassin’s Creed 3) is going to be released on Xbox 360 and PS3 as early as 7 September this year, which is a spectacular turnaround given that by that point it will have been less than a year since AS2 was released.
It’s going to be a full sequel (or at least it’s going to be a full-priced game, so it better bloody had be a proper sequel) and, as was previously confirmed it will continue Ezio’s story, which was told through the eyes of a modern participant, in a rather rip-roaring style, we think. It should be said that Play have form for sticking things up like this in order to get their hands on lovely pre-order money, and Ubisoft have remained resolutely tight-lipped about the whole thing, other than to release the following information-less statement:
‘We have not announced any release date or name so far about the next Assassin's Creed, following that we would not comment on rumours or speculation.’ Bah, you big spoilsports.
