Assassin's Creed: quick turnaround

If you’re enjoying/have enjoyed Assassin’s Creed 2 as much as we have (and God knows we went on about it enough prior to its release that we can feel smug about just how good it is), then you’ll be happy to know that publisher Ubisoft has announced more AC goodness this fiscal year. But is it Assassin’s Creed 3? Probably not, unless they’re planning on a hammering out a half-arsed sequel quickly to capitalise on AC2’s phenomenal success, and they wouldn’t do that, would they?

Ubisoft’s fiscal year runs from April this year to next March, so you’ve not got a huge amount of time to wait for the goodies, which they describe as ‘a new episode’. Whether this means that they’re making a brand new story or an extended piece of downloadable content for the existing game hasn’t been made clear. However what it will be is significant, otherwise they wouldn’t have mentioned it.

‘The 2010-11 fiscal year will see a greater number of franchise releases than in 2009-10,’ they said. ‘Including Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction, a new game in the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon series, Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands, Driver, Raving Rabbids 4 and a new episode of Assassin's Creed, which will be the first in the series to have an online multiplayer mode.’
