Assassin's Creed 2 - first play

We’ve been going fairly big on Assassin’s Creed 2 over the last few months. Partly because it’s a big game, but also because we think it’s likely to be very, very good indeed, and will be snapped up by team Digital Edge as soon as possible (if any Ubisoft PR’s happen to be reading this, please don’t hesitate to send a copy over).

Luckier gaming journos than us attended the Tokyo Game Show over the last week, and some of them even got their hands on a demo of the game. Bah. According to Joystiq, the coolest things in the new game are that the in-game world is incredibly vibrant, the city is very believable and interactivity with people and places adds a huge amount to the game play, especially the use of your money to bring hired muscle with you in large battles.

You can also nick weapons from beaten enemies, while you can even give health potions to people. Bah, some assassin you are. Meanwhile the combat system has hardly changed a lick, which is a shame, and as they correctly point out, after Batman Arkham Asylum it might feel a little underwhelming. We’ll see, won’t we?
