Asia goes offline

Whoops! An unidentified problem with an undersea cable has cut off internet access to huge swathes of the Middle East and Asia. The Guardian reports that more than half of India’s bandwidth has been lost, and most Middle Eastern countries are almost entirely without Internet access.

The cable in question runs between Sicily and Egypt, and investigators are still unaware of what caused the outage. We confidently expect it all to start working again when a cleaner in Luxor unplugs the floor polisher at the end of their shift…
