Apple withdraws "Baby Shaker" game

Apple has withdrawn a game called "Baby Shaker" from the iPhone App Store after a number of complaints from parents groups. The 99-cent game encourages the user to shake a baby in order to stop it crying.

The game, created by Sikilasoft, features the following description: "On a plane, on the bus, in a theatre. Babies are everywhere you don't want them to be! They're always distracting you from preparing for that big presentation at work with their incessant crying. Before "Baby Shaker", there was nothing you could do about it. See how long you can endure his or her adorable cries before you just have to find a way to quiet the baby down!"iPhone users are meant to shake the motion sensitive phone until red Xs appear over the baby's eyes. The application was released on Monday but already withdrawn by Wednesday after receiving wide publicity on a number of blogs.

Apple usually monitor games and applications before putting them on App Store, but "Baby Shaker" was somehow able to slip through the net. The company has yet to make any comment about the incident.
