A lot of people own Apple notebooks for all the wrong reasons. This really does show just how strong of a hold Apple have on the notebook market. They are masters at branding, so their products basically sell themselves.
Everyone knows the Apple logo. This is down to the fact that it is the cool product to own. Whether it's an iPod, an iPhone or an iMac, people want to own these products.
The problem with this is that Macbooks are specifically made for certain types of users. A lot of people don't realise this when they buy one but because they started with a Macbook, they don't realise what other operating systems can do.
Apple have a tag-line for the Macbook. They say it's 'The notebook for everyone.' This is true to some degree. In one way it is probably the best, and easiest, way to use your computer for media. So, if you like listening to tunes or watching video, then the Macbook makes all of this a breeze.
They are also held in high regards by people who work in digital arts. This is due to the fact that these machines run flawlessly. There is no real drop in speed while you are working, so everything comes together a little smoother.
With a laptop running Windows there are a lot more options available to the user. There is a lot more they can do because Windows is much more open to the user. With the Mac OS you are locked off, what you see is what you get.
If you are into the programming side of computing then maybe Ubuntu is the right option for you. This is a free, open source operating system that gives you complete control over everything you do. You do need to learn a bit of the lingo to get by though.
Macbooks are a great piece of kit if you buy them for the right reasons. Be sure to look into this before splashing out an obscene amount of cash!
