The early signs of Google’s serious move into mobile phones emerged this week in Barcelona. The Mobile World Congress show, which presents all things wild and whizzy to do with mobile phones, saw several announcements of phones based on Google’s Android operating system – which itself is based on Linux.
On show so far are maps, camera applications, email and web browsing and basically anything you’d expect to get on an upscale phone from one of the top makers. So far Samsung is the biggest major phone maker to say it’s planning to use Android. Will Google have Nokia and Sony running scared, or are they going to jump on board too?
