And we have touchdown: the iPhone will land...

The web gurus and media moguls flocked to Regent Street in London today to participate in the press conference that has announced the official launch date of the iPhone in the UK. And Steve Jobs himself turned up to delight the elite.

O2 will be the exclusive network provider - which has rattled the cages of some tech heads, as O2 is not great on the old 3G coverage side. This means the iPhone launched in the UK won't be an upgraded version of its US counterpart.

So here are the details (to be confirmed), hot off the press as they are announced at the conference via Twitter:

Cost: £269
Operator: O2
Launch date: 9th November - an 8GB version will be available.

Don't forget to watch WillItBlend to find out whether the iPhone can indeed be smoothied.
