Aaron Sorkin to write Facebook the Movie
Just when you thought it was safe to back into the cinema, what with Meet Dave in its final week, news has broken that Sony has asked Aaron Sorkin, creator of the West Wing, to write a film script about the meteoric rise of Facebook.
The news was announced to the world through a new group page on Facebook imaginatively entitled Aaron Sorkin & The Facebook Movie. The Emmy Award winner admits that his knowledge of the internet is limited setting up a Facebook account to try and get up to speed with the world of social networking.
Facebook was founded in 2004 by three Harvard students Mark Zuckerberg, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes. Since then the site has enjoyed unparalleled growth in the social networking market turning its young founders into multi-millionaires.
Sorkin's task will be to transform the college dorm to riches story into a script that will get bums on seats. But the really important question is who is going to play Mark Zuckerberg? Juno and Superbad's Michael Cera gets Excite's vote. Any other suggestions?
