A laptop? For that price!

Not that we're some dodgy laptop salesmen or anything but we do happen to know a bit about where you can get a laptop for cheap. There are some key things to look out for when buying a cheap laptop so we've done a little list to help you when you come to buy one.

1. Does it have a CD drive: This is an incredibly important part of what you should be looking for. It is always best to have a CD drive for backing up or in case you ever need to boot from a CD. It is not completely necessary nowadays, just a nice option to have.

2. USB 1.0 or 2.0: This is important as certain USB devices need the extra power of USB 2.0. If they don't have a separate adapter to power it you will not be able to use USB 1.0 to run a 2.0 device. This could mean that you cannot power a certain type of external hard drive.

3. Is there a LAN port or Wifi: Both of these again are very important. You will obviously need wifi so you can connect wirelessly to the internet. You will also need a LAN port. The reason for this is if anything should happen to your wifi, you will not be able to get online to fix it without a LAN port.

4. Battery life: Often with cheaper laptops the companies promise the world as far as battery life goes, then after a few hours you realise it's starting to shut down! This normally results in needing to be plugged in all the time taking away the whole point of having a laptop... portability.

If you watch out for these points you should be able to get a very good laptop without spending a fortune.
